IRVINE, Calif., Aug. 2, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Building upon the success of its FujiTrail Collection, ASICS America is full steam ahead into the trail season with the introduction of new apparel, footwear and accessories to conquer an athlete's hardest terrain. Trail runners will appreciate the innovative technology and unique elements that the updated collection offers, as each product is designed with trail specific features that offer rugged protection and nimble performance for every kind of rocky, gritty environment.
This season, ASICS® introduces technological advances to its line of award-winning footwear with the GEL-FujiRacer™ 3 and GEL-FujiTrainer™ 3. The latest version of GEL-FujiRacer 3, the lightest shoe in the ASICS trail line, features an updated trail-specific outsole and rock plates for increased under foot protection and traction. The new reverse uphill and downhill lugs are spaced far apart to prevent mud and debris from collecting on the outsole. Lastly, the forefoot midsole water drainage system has been updated to improve flexibility and now lets water out while preventing water from sneaking in. The GEL-FujiRacer 3 will be available January 1 and will retail for $110.
The updated GEL-FujiTrainer 3 is the near-perfect combination of rugged protection and nimble performance. The GEL-FujiTrainer 3 boasts a full ground contact outsole, which ensures that more rubber tread hits the trail, providing excellent traction on even the most advanced terrain. The versatile construction also provides inherent stability, enabling runners to confidently negotiate uneven surfaces. In addition, the new vamp overlay increases toe box protection and durability while a closed breathable mesh and gusseted tongue team up to prevent trail debris from entering the shoe. The GEL-FujiTrainer 3 will be available January 1 and retail for $100.
To address a quickly growing consumer base, ASICS America is also unveiling new additions to its rugged apparel and accessories FujiTrail collection. Designed for the adventurous trail explorer who demands durable and sustainable clothing to match the elements, a revolutionary addition to the spring 2014 collection is the new Ecoline® fabric with Cocona®1 Technology, which uses natural active particles derived from coconuts and minerals to enhance the performance of the fabrics by increasing breathability, odor management and UV protection.
Available January 1, additional highlights from the Spring 2014 ASICS FujiTrail Collection of apparel and accessories include:
"We're excited to build on the increasingly popular ASICS FujiTrail collection this season, as the line was built for seasoned competitors and the off-road warriors," said Shannon Scott, Director of Marketing, ASICS America. "These products were created to go where the pavement doesn't, and we're proud to support our athletes and consumers all over the world as they test their limits on the toughest of terrains."
