Lawyer Plugin Focuses on Network Quality

Lawyer Plugin, a plugin for WordPress sites, launched in July, and the developers are touting the quality of the peer-to-peer legal directory it creates.

San Francisco, Aug. 14, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The WordPress plugin lists participating law firms in a peer-to-peer directory that uses a "geo-competitor filter" to ensure that users will not provide links to direct competitors on their sites. The directory is not for everyone - the listings will be monitored to ensure that only attorneys and law firms participate, ensuring a high-quality network.

The plugin's advertisements claim that "With just a few clicks, Lawyer Plugin provides a host of fresh content. Each user is also listed in a peer-to-peer directory with inbound links appearing on other firms' sites. Direct competitors are never listed on a user's site, and only attorneys and law firms will be allowed in the network."

After installing Lawyer Plugin, the user enters the physical location and up to three practice areas for his or her firm. The plugin automatically prepares several pages of new content, one of which contains links to a selection of other plugin users' sites. The listings may include both local attorneys in other practice areas and non-local attorneys in the same practice area as the user. This ensures that the resources are of potential use to site visitors without creating traffic for direct competitors. According to the developers, attorneys in the U.S. receive as much as 15 percent of site traffic from websites outside their own states.

Another feature of the plugin creates categories full of links to legal information resources. This includes government sites and popular legal reference sites. Not everybody receives the same resources. The law firm's state and practice area(s) dictate which resources are provided by Lawyer Plugin.

As the WordPress plugin evolves, the developers are anxious to add libraries of new resources and maintain extremely high standards for the existing resources. In the first month, Lawyer Plugin has removed over 50 resources that no longer met their standards and will be adding 500 district court resources by the year end.
