Dive Deeper Into the Legacy of Titanic on the 28th Anniversary of the Wreck Site's Discovery

Live Twitter Chat With Ship and Wreck Site Expert; Portion of Proceeds From Ticket Sales on Sept. 1 Donated to Preserve Wreck Site of Titanic

ATLANTA, Aug. 29, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Premier Exhibitions, Inc. (Nasdaq:PRXI) announced today that to commemorate the 28th anniversary of the discovery of the wreck site of Titanic, the world's most famed Ocean Liner, RMS Titanic, Inc., the salvor-in-possession of the Ship and its artifacts, will invite guests to take a closer look at the legacy of the ill-fated Ship and her passengers.

On Sunday, Sept. 1, a portion of the proceeds from admission to the company's worldwide exhibitions will be donated to the RMS Titanic Trust, a fund with the sole purpose of supporting the long term care of the wreck site of Titanic. RMS Titanic, Inc, a subsidiary of Premier Exhibitions, Inc., currently presents Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition at Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV; Atlantic Station in Atlanta, GA; Great Lakes Science Center in Cleveland, OH; New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science in Albuquerque, NM; Grand Rapids Public Museum in Grand Rapids, MI; Porte de Versailles in Paris, France; and Titanic: The Experience in Orlando, FL and Buena Park, CA.

To bring the experience to new depths, Paul Henry Nargeolet, Director of Underwater Research for RMS Titanic, Inc, and one of the premiere experts on the Ship and its wreck site, will host a live twitter chat that day from 2-3 p.m. EDT.

Nargeolet has an impressive and tenured history with Titanic. Widely considered the leading authority on the wreck site, Nargeloet has lead 6 expeditions to Titanic, completed 30 dives in the submersible and supervised the recovery of 5,000 artifacts, including the recovery of the "Big Piece" a 20 ton section of Titanic's hull. Nargeolet will be tweeting from the @RMS_Titanic_Inc handle using the hashtag #TitanicDiscovery.

Nargeolet will answer questions about his experiences more than two miles below the ocean surface, the state of the wreck site after over a century underwater as well as exactly 28 years after its discovery, and how visitors to the exhibitions, through RMS Titanic, Inc., help preserve the artifacts and legacy of Titanic.

"The goal of RMS Titanic, Inc. is to educate the public, not only about Titanic's past, but its future. The wreck is deteriorating dramatically; the decay is becoming more and more visible. Collecting as much scientific data and artifacts as we can is excruciatingly important now as we battle time and the destructive forces on the ocean floor including bacteria, oxidation and tremendous currents," said Nargeolet. "What still impresses me today is the endless fascination over Titanic. Generation after generation is hungry to learn more about the history of the ship, the state-of-the-art deep water technology being used to map the site and the new conservation processes for the artifacts."

Titanic was first discovered on September 1, 1985, nearly two and a half miles below the ocean's surface. Since the wreck was found, RMS Titanic, Inc. has served as the exclusive steward of Titanic which tragically sank on April 15, 1912.  Hand-in-hand with its dedication to preserving the legacy of the Ship through education and exploration, the company's donation of a portion of the proceeds from admission to the Exhibitions on Sept. 1 to RMS Titanic Trust will be dedicated to preserving and caring for the wreck site of Titanic.
