Coblentz Patch Duffy & Bass Adds Real Estate and Land Use Partner J. Gregg Miller, Jr.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Sep 4, 2013) - Coblentz Patch Duffy & Bass LLP, a nearly 125-year-old law firm located in San Francisco's historic Ferry Building, welcomes Real Estate and Land Use Partner J. Gregg Miller, Jr. Gregg joins the firm from Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, where he was a partner. Prior to Pillsbury, he practiced at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.

"So far in 2013, we have been successful in attracting some of San Francisco's most respected attorneys to complement our existing practice areas and to provide our clients with the high caliber legal strategy and support they expect and deserve from Coblentz," said CEO Carter Brown. "Gregg Miller's addition to our Real Estate and Land Use Practice and Jessica Grant's addition to our Litigation Practice are two such examples."

Miller brings nearly 15 years of experience representing clients on a broad array of real estate transactions, including multi-property portfolio acquisitions and dispositions, complex land use matters, leasing and secured lending. Some of the notable projects Miller has worked on include the sale of the iconic John Hancock Center, the mortgage loan on the Presidio Landmark Apartments, a 100,000-square-foot lease in one of San Francisco's marquee office buildings and the entitlements for an expansion of the San Francisco Columbarium, a designated historic landmark. At Coblentz, he will continue his real estate practice with a focus on land use matters, joining the team of Northern California's premiere land use lawyers. Among many projects, the firm is currently representing the San Francisco 49ers in the development of Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara and the San Francisco Giants in the entitlement of the Mission Rock project, which will include commercial, restaurant, retail and entertainment space, as well as parking and outdoor spaces for public events.

"Gregg adds tremendous depth to our firm and shares a like-minded focus on delivering superior client service," said Coblentz Partner Harry O'Brien, a real estate and land use law veteran. "He also fits well into our 'next generation' team of leaders, both at the firm and in the industry. He will be working on some of our high profile projects, and I know that both our clients and his clients will benefit from our combined expertise and capabilities."

"Joining Coblentz allows me to work alongside the top echelon of land use and real estate counsel in Northern California. The complexity of the matters that Coblentz handles will call upon the many different skill sets I have acquired over the years. There is nothing more exciting than to take a project from acquisition, through entitlement, to financing, build-out, lease-up and eventual sale. I'm absolutely thrilled to be here," said Miller.

Active within his industry and the greater legal community, Miller is a ranked lawyer in the Legal 500 USA (2013), a member of the San Francisco Urban Research Association (SPUR), the Urban Land Institute (ULI), the Real Property Section of the San Francisco Bar Association and the University of San Francisco Law Review. Miller earned his J.D. from the University of San Francisco, School of Law (1998) and his B.A. from Yale University (1992).
