A Gathering of Friends Reception Champions Orange County's Most Vulnerable Youth


ORANGE, Calif., Sept. 9, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- More than 60 guests gathered for a special reception at the Pacific Club in Newport Beach on August 22nd to celebrate the joining of Kinship Center and Canyon Acres with Seneca Family of Agencies, a leading statewide child and family serving agency. Board members and local dignitaries celebrated the partnership, now in its 2nd year, and the increased impact the combined programmatic strength has had on children and families in Orange County.

Highlights of the evening included remarks by Ken Berrick, CEO Seneca Family of Agencies, and the premier of the new agency video outlining Seneca's commitment to an unconditional care service approach. Believing that children and youth do not themselves fail, but are failed by the system, Seneca has dedicated itself to providing "unconditional care" for children and families. Unconditional care means that whatever it takes to help children and families thrive, even when faced with tremendous challenges,, will be done. To provide this care, Seneca offers a range of community-based and family-focused support.   These life-changing programs are reflective of the needs of the communities being served and impact the following four focus areas: Permanence/Adoption, Education, Mental Health, Innovation.

Seneca Orange County Leadership Board Member, Patrick Dirk and his wife Mary hosted the event that brought together community supporters and advocates invested in helping vulnerable children and families in Orange County.   Honored guests included The Honorable Gail Eastman, Mayor Pro Tem, City of Anaheim, The Honorable Lucille Kring, Council Member, City of Anaheim, The Honorable Kris Murray, Council Member, City of Anaheim, Former Mayor of Costa Mesa, the Honorable Peter Buffa, Former Mayor of Newport Beach, the Honorable Evelyn Hart, and Former State Senator & Secretary of Education, the Honorable Marian Bergeson.
