New Products Corporation Participates in Benton Harbor's 9/11 Remembrance

BENTON HARBOR, MI--(Marketwired - Sep 13, 2013) -  Cheryl Miller, CEO of New Products Corporation (NPC), a long established manufacturer in Benton Harbor, was on hand to greet some 25 AmeriCorps members on Wednesday, September 11 as they arrived to landscape the grounds surrounding the Benton Harbor Public Library for the National Day of Service, preparing the area for a World Trade Center Memorial.

A significant World Trade Center artifact, a steal beam from the twin towers, will be permanently installed in an area between the library and fire department in Benton Harbor. Peter Colovos of Prairie Development is spearheading the memorial project. The American Red Cross of Berrien and Van Buren Counties has been touring the artifact through local communities before its final installation.

"We are thrilled that we have been able to bring the World Trade Center Artifact to the public this week. It is an honor to be able to help establish a permanent memorial in Benton Harbor and very appropriate that it will be directly across the street from the Benton Harbor Fire Department," said Breeze Ettl, chapter executive of the American Red Cross of Berrien and Van Buren Counties.

NPC was a sponsor of the day's new library landscape project and also presented donations to the Benton Harbor Public Library and the American Red Cross.

"It is an honor for New Products Corporation to participate in this National Day of Service. We honor and remember those who lost their lives in that horrific event. It is through this ongoing memorial tribute that we can be reminded and carry on the legacy of freedom. Those who died on Sept 11th didn't die in vain as long as we defend liberty," said Miller. "Our organizations have demonstrated a common purpose to help one another. It is the commitment to liberty and care for others that my father Stanley O. Miller established at NPC for more than 60 years before he passed away just days before 9/11. It is the legacy I carry forward."
