United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Announces Nation's Top Local Chambers


CHICAGO, Sept. 16, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) honored three Hispanic chambers for their accomplishments with the Chamber of the Year Award. The recipients were announced during the 2013 USHCC National Convention in Chicago, the largest gathering of Hispanic business leaders in the nation.

"The USHCC stands on the shoulders of America's local Hispanic chambers," said USHCC President & CEO Javier Palomarez. "As we honor these three outstanding chambers, we trust that they will continue to amplify the story of the Hispanic entrepreneur in their communities, reminding our nation – both at the local and national level – that the Hispanic businessmen and women are America's business future."

Applicants from across the nation were judged on their outstanding accomplishments, leadership, service and commitment to the Hispanic business community. 

The winners of the USHCC Small, Medium and Large Chamber Awards are:

Small: Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan St. Louis

The Small Hispanic Chamber of the Year Award was presented to the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan St. Louis, who increased their membership 10.6%, increased corporate sponsors by 12% and overall sponsorship dollars 68% in the past year.

Medium: Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce

The Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce strategically utilizes their location in the nation's capital for their premier Business Expo event - showcasing businesses, participating government agencies, corporations, embassies, non-profits to the local Hispanic business community.

Large: Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce

The Large Hispanic Chamber of the Year Award was presented to the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando, a chamber that has grown from 300 to over 1020 members this month in over the past three years.

The Small, Medium and Large Hispanic Chamber of the Year Awards honor accomplished Hispanic chambers of commerce that serve fewer than 249 members, between 250 and 499 members, and more than 500 members, respectively.
