Al's Famous New York Delicatessen & Restaurant to Debut at Mohegan Resorts Casino

First Re-Branded Location to Offer Original SoupMan(R) Soups and Authentic NY Delicatessen All-Day Menu

NEW YORK, Sept. 18, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Soupman, Inc. (Public trading symbol: SOUP), the parent company of the best-tasting soup brand in the world, The Original SoupMan®, announces the upcoming opening in October of Al's Famous New York Delicatessen & Restaurant at the Mohegan Resorts Casino in Atlantic City. This rebranded restaurant model is the first of several planned for casinos, airports and other travel and leisure destinations.

The new restaurant and delicatessen model was inspired by the success of The Original SoupMan® franchise that has been operating in the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut since 2010. That location began offering an expansive menu of authentic NY delicatessen dishes, along with the Original SoupMan famous soups and other all-day menu items, to cater to the round-the-clock appetites of casino visitors.

"We saw an extremely positive response to our expanded delicatessen menu from visitors at the casino in Connecticut," said Lloyd Sugarman, CEO of The Original SoupMan. "The Al's Famous New York Delicatessen & Restaurant model was developed as a result of this success. In fact, we expect that all future locations will feature an expanded menu that includes full authentic delicatessen offerings and a breakfast menu suited for the casino environment."

Leading the expansion of Al's New York Delicatessen & Restaurant into casinos throughout the United States and Canada is master developer Robert Azinian, who operates more than 50 restaurants, including 20 Johnny Rockets across the country in casinos and at City Walk at Universal Studio in California. Azinian has partnered with multi-unit franchisee Bill White, a 20-year veteran in franchise restaurant ownership/operation. White has agreed to open and operate the new location at the Mohegan Resorts Casino in Atlantic City.

The 1,000 square foot restaurant's menu features the world renowned Original SoupMan soups, a full authentic NY delicatessen menu including Al's 42nd Street Ruben, fresh sliced pastrami, corned beef and oven roasted turkey and a traditional full breakfast menu including Eggs Benedict and bagels & lox of NY tradition. Meanwhile, a second Al's restaurant is slated to open next year at the Mohegan Sun in Pocono Downs in Pennsylvania. Over the next five years, the company plans to open 25 franchised units throughout casinos.

In addition, Soupman recently joined the food truck revolution with the launch of its new The Original SoupMan mobile franchise, the first national food brand to franchise a food truck. It plans to have 50 trucks rolling in 2014. The company has also expanded its Tetra Pak soup cartons, a packaging technology that locks in flavor and freshness, into more than 4,000 supermarkets nationwide including Walmart, Safeway, HEB, Ahold and more. Flavors include classic Lobster Bisque, Chicken Noodle, Lentil, and Tomato Bisque, and new flavors, Crab Corn Chowder, Chicken Gumbo and the "Seinfeld" classic Jambalaya.
