Elekta Opens Global Education Center for Oncology and Neuroscience Professionals

Learning and Innovation Center (LINC) to draw thousands to Atlanta
ATLANTA, Sept. 23 – Elekta will unveil a state-of-the-art learning center at its
North American headquarters, in conjunction with the 55th Annual Meeting of the
American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) being held in Atlanta.

The Learning and Innovation Center (LINC) is expected to draw clinicians,
researchers and health IT professionals to the city for education, training and
collaboration on Elekta’s industry-leading solutions for treating cancer and
brain disorders. The LINC also serves as a tangible introduction to Elekta, with
interactive displays highlighting the company’s achievements in cancer
treatment.

“The creation of the LINC consolidates a wealth of educational resources that
encompass all of our cancer management competencies,” says Jay Hoey, Executive
Vice President, Region North America. “Atlanta is an ideal location for this,
with easy airport access to North America and the world, a thriving metropolitan
area and a wealth of other health care and educational resources.”

The 25,000 square foot facility, set among a park-like setting, incorporates the
latest adult learning principles and technology, and is equipped with actual
working systems of virtually every Elekta solution to support hands-on learning.
These solutions represent Elekta’s oncology, software, brachytherapy,
neuroscience and imaging products, including the new Versa HD™ linear
accelerator and Leksell Gamma Knife® Perfexion™. Enhancing the experience,
students have access to the Versa HD vault, which is large enough for hands-on
learning.

“This is a beautiful facility that brings numerous benefits to Atlanta and the
State of Georgia,” says David Hartnett, Vice President, Economic Development,
Bioscience-Health IT, Metro Atlanta Chamber. “Not only does it provide an ideal
setting for learning, but the LINC has educational exhibits that demonstrate
Elekta’s leadership in advancing cancer care. This facility enhances and
solidifies Georgia’s leadership position in the fields of cancer treatment and
research.”
