Wendy Lane Stevens Receives Portland Business Alliance Award

LANE President Recognized for Supporting and Mentoring Women in the Business Community

PORTLAND, OR--(Marketwired - Sep 26, 2013) - Wendy Lane Stevens, president of LANE, a national, independent agency specializing in public relations, digital marketing and investor relations, has been given a 2013 A Place With No Ceiling award from the Portland Business Alliance (PBA). Two awards were given, Lane Stevens received individual recognition while the corporate acknowledgement went to Moss Adams.

Criteria for the award was based on mentorship of women in the business community, level of community engagement and public perception of the individual as a female icon. Lane Stevens received the award during an evening event at the Oregon Historical Society on Sept. 18.

Lane Stevens founded LANE in 1990 and has grown the agency to $4 million in annual revenues, 30 employees, a roster of national clients and offices in Portland, Ore., and New York. LANE is among the less than two percent of women-owned businesses in the U.S. with revenues of over $1 million.

Lane Stevens is dedicated to removing barriers that prevent women from pursuing their careers. The family-friendly policies and educational and professional development opportunities LANE offers are a trademark of Lane Stevens' commitment to the advancement of women. Since launching her agency, Lane Stevens has served as a mentor for many young female professionals entering the PR field. Many LANE management team members have flourished under Lane Stevens' mentoring efforts including vice presidents Amber Roberts and Angie Galimanis.

"Wendy invested in me at a time that the majority of the country was afraid to invest in anything. In late summer 2008, when the financial industry fallout was evident, Wendy and I were formulating a strategy for LANE's expansion to the east coast, including a permanent office in New York," said Roberts. "This was a risky endeavor at the time, but it has paid off in dividends. The confidence and trust Wendy places in her staff enables them to take ownership of their career paths, and I have really appreciated that opportunity."

"Wendy expects excellence and has built a firm with the best and the brightest in the business. Her ability to spot talent and retain valuable employees has allowed LANE to grow, even in a difficult economic environment," said Galimanis. "LANE employs many working mothers, myself included, who have greatly benefited from a flexible work environment. Wendy knows firsthand the challenges of being a working mother and has created a work environment that allows employees to find balance."

A Place With No Ceiling is an event that connects and inspires women in the business community. This is the second year the Portland Business Alliance has given the award and hosted the event.
