ATLANTA, Sept. 26, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Faron W. King of Hiawassee was recently named REALTOR® of the Year (ROTY) for the Georgia REALTORS® (GAR). The announcement was made on Thursday, September 19, during the Opening Session of the Georgia REALTORS®' Annual Convention & Expo in Destin, Fla.

Faron currently serves as Regional Vice President and Managing Broker for Coldwell Banker High Country Realty with five offices in Hiawassee, Blue Ridge, Ellijay, Blairsville and Murphy, NC. He manages Hiawassee, Blairsville and Murphy and is directly responsible for coaching and mentoring 26 agents, while assisting with training and support for all 75 agents in all five offices. His community involvement includes serving as Treasurer of the Towns County Tourism Association, founding committee member of the Georgia Mountain Green Egg Fest, and a founding committee member of "A taste of Southern Highlands," among others.

Faron served as the 2011 President of the Northeast Georgia Board of REALTORS® (NEGBOR), and was named NEGBOR's REALTOR® of the Year in 2010 and 2012. He has served on and chaired several committees, and is currently the Treasurer for NEGBOR and NEGBOR's Community Outreach Foundation, a 501c3 organization that was created to give aid to the six counties surrounding the NEGBOR office. Faron is a Past President of Towns County Chamber of Commerce, the Licklog Players Theater Group and Georgia Association of Assessing Officials.

At the state level, Faron currently serves as the Region 2 Director, covering 12 counties in northeast Georgia. He has served on multiple committees and Presidential Advisory Groups (PAGs), including Vision and Branding PAGs that lead to a new logo and brand standards for GAR. He is a graduate of both GAR's Leadership Academy and Leadership Georgia (1999), His other accomplishments include being named in Georgia Trend Magazine's "40 Under 40," being honored with the title of "Kentucky Colonel." Faron holds five real estate designations - Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR), Certified Residential Broker (CRB), Short Sales and Foreclosure Resource (SFR), and Seller Representative Specialist (SRS).
