Litgrid gives go-ahead for LitPol Link power line construction contract


Vilnius, Lithuania, 2013-10-01 09:44 CEST (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- On 30 September 2013, the management board of Litgrid gave the go-ahead for signing a contract with UAB A. Žilinskio ir Ko on the procurement of construction works for building a 400 kV overhead power transmission line from Alytus to the Lithuania-Poland border, a section of the LitPol Link power interconnection. The contract will be signed with the contractor after the expiry of the 15 day term for postponement of the signing of the contract.

Under the contract, which is valued at LTL 60.6 million VAT excl., the contractor will have to carry out all works necessary for the proper operation of the 400 kV power line. The contractor will also have to draft the project of works, supply equipment required for the line’s construction and arrange the construction works. The construction works of the power line will have to be carried out in 20 months following the signing of the contract.

The international public procurement of the construction works of the LitPol Link’s power line started in April this year. A total of nine companies took part in the process, with seven of them invited to submit their bids.  

Yesterday, September 30,  Litgrid and UAB A. Žilinskio ir Ko signed a LTL 43.5 million contract on the reconstruction of the 330 kV Alytus transformer substation. The reconstruction should be completed by the end of 2015 to prepare the Lithuanian electricity transmission network to be connected to the LitPol Link interconnection.
