Feminist Icon Gloria Steinem, U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy Among Six 2013 Honorees at October 13th Eleanor Roosevelt Tribute in Hyde Park, NY


HYDE PARK, N.Y., Oct. 2, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Eleanor Roosevelt's legacy will be honored on Sunday, October 13th at 12 noon when six honorees will receive the Eleanor Roosevelt Val-Kill Medals at her home in Hyde Park, NY.

This year's honorees include: Gloria Steinem, U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy and his wife, Marcelle, educator Glen Johnson, the Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union represented by its CEO Mary Madden, and philanthropist/preservationist Joan Davidson.

Each of the honorees made significant contributions to local or global humanitarian causes, reflecting Eleanor Roosevelt's lifelong efforts on behalf of public education, advocacy for the needy, social and racial justice, and human rights. All have been deeply involved in the kind of humanitarian causes and values championed by Mrs. Roosevelt.
