National Safe Boating Council Receives 2013 Power of A Summit Award

Life Jacket World Record Day Recognized for Making the World a Better Place

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwired - Oct 9, 2013) - The National Safe Boating Council received top honors from ASAE: The Center for Association Leadership during the Summit Awards Dinner at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. on October 1. The NSBC received the 2013 Summit Award, along with six other associations, the highest recognition under The Power of A Awards.

The NSBC's "Ready, Set, Wear It!" Life Jacket World Record Day was selected for its "Power to Make a Better World." The NSBC, in partnership with the Canadian Safe Boating Council, brings together boating safety professionals, boating community and general public to participate in this annual event during National Safe Boating Week. People gather around the globe to set a world record for the most life jackets worn and inflatable life jackets inflated. The goal is to promote comfortable and versatile life jacket options and educate the public about boating safety.

"It's always extremely inspiring to see the many ways in which associations work to enrich lives and assist communities around the world," said Christie Tarantino, CAE, president and CEO of the Association Forum of Chicagoland and chairman of The Power of A Awards Judging Committee. "This year's Summit Award winners provide exceptional examples of associations going above and beyond their organizational mission to make America and the world a better place to live."

Since 2010, nearly 13,000 people have participated in Life Jacket World Record Day. To learn more, visit www.ReadySetWearIt.com.

The winners were selected by the Power of A Awards Judging Committee, which received more than 70 applications this year. The Power of A Awards were launched in 2009 by ASAE to increase awareness about the wealth of knowledge and resources in the association community with policymakers and others.
