AB Vilniaus degtinė 9-month Interim Report for 2013


AB Vilniaus degtinė income from sales fell 6.0 per cent in the period January–September 2013, compared with the corresponding period in 2012. Income from sales for the period January–September 2013 was 37.6 million litas (10.9 million euro); and for the period July–September 2012 it was 40.0 million litas (11.6 million euro).

Income from the sale of alcoholic beverages for the period July–September 2013 increased to 30.5 million litas, which was 14.2 per cent more than for the corresponding period last year (26.7 million litas).

In the first nine months of this year, compared to the corresponding period last year, the company’s alcoholic beverage export sales in all markets grew by 84.2 per cent and reached 3.5 million litas. Of this amount, sales in EU countries accounted for 2.9 million litas and sales in non-EU countries accounted for 600,000 litas.

For the period January–September 2013, pre-tax profit was 829,000 litas (€240,000). In the corresponding period in 2012, pre-tax profit was 24,000 litas (€7,000).

For the period January–September 2013, EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation) reached 3,9 million litas (€1.1 million), which was a 39.3% increase compared to the corresponding period in 2012. EBITDA for the period January–September 2012 was 2.8 million litas (€0.8 million).

The General Manager of AB Vilniaus degtinė, Juozas Daunys, stated that in 2013 the company focussed its activities on strengthening the company’s brand name products and managing its range of alcoholic beverages. He said: “In 2013 the market for strong liquor grew insignificantly. By focussing on promoting sales of the Bajorų and Gedimino brands, we achieved a better result than we had planned. We achieved growth in the spirits sector of 8.7 per cent.”
