Moen and Chicanos Por La Causa Join Forces to Give America's Veterans a Fresh Start

PHOENIX, Dec. 3, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc. (CPLC) with the support of Moen Incorporated (www.moen.com) are rehabilitating a hotel conversion project, located at 3541 E. Van Buren in Phoenix, which will offer veterans and the homeless a decent home. CPLC understands that having a safe and comfortable place to live is fundamental for families to live healthy and prosperous lives. Thus, CPLC is committed to helping returning veterans and their families through an initiative called "CPLC Bridge 2 Home." The project, slated for rehab in early 2014, will give an overhaul for nearly 90 units to be converted to permanent residences. The remaining fixtures will be installed at single-family homes, pre-listed for veterans and first responders.

CPLC is committed to investing in these properties and rehabilitating them into safe, high-quality homes with special attention paid to lowering the homeowner's total cost of ownership. This is accomplished by installing energy-efficient appliances and windows, whenever possible, cost-saving fixtures, and providing low-water-use landscaping.

Moen will donate bath and kitchen fixtures through its national program, Alcanzando Sueños con Moen for CPLC's hotel conversion project. Moen first partnered with CPLC in 2008 to help create 46 single-family homes at the Cardenas Villas at Yanche community in South Central Phoenix, highly regarded for their energy efficient design.

Please join CPLC CEO Edmundo Hidalgo, local community leaders, and our honored veterans and their families at a special ceremony on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 9:00 am at 1112 E. Buckeye Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85034.

For the past six years, Moen has partnered with other nonprofit organizations in major markets such as New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Florida and donated state-of-the-art and water-saving fixtures that help to reduce operating expenses and lower the cost of construction.
