New York Methodist Hospital Uses Cerner SkyVue(R) to Improve Workflow Efficiency and Communication Among Clinicians

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Dec. 3, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- New York Methodist Hospital (NYMH) became the first organization to utilize the full capabilities of Cerner Corporation's new enterprise image viewing framework, Cerner SkyVue®. The image viewing framework enables customizable, cohesive viewing of DICOM and non-DICOM images across the enterprise. Cerner SkyVue creates an intuitive and ergonomic user interface built using a modular gadget driven workspace that gives you the flexibility to build and customize your view. It utilizes advanced visualization tools from strategic partners, to maximize your workflow experience seamlessly integrated into the Electronic Medical Record.

"The nice thing about Cerner SkyVue is that in addition to the radiologist using the SkyVue system it's easily adaptable to the whole institution. It's basically one system that anyone can use at any point, anywhere within the hospital or institution," said NYMH attending radiologist Dr. Russell Gibson.

Independent of venue of care, whether in the radiology department or throughout a health system, Cerner SkyVue delivers a consistent view of a patient's images alongside the electronic health record (EHR) information, enabling clinicians to better communicate, diagnose and treat patients.

"It's improved our workflow and efficiency, as well as our ability to communicate with our referring physicians and physicians in training," said Dr. Gibson of Cerner SkyVue.

Across the continuum of care at NYMH, clinicians have access to the same view in the context of the patient EHR. This synergy across the hospital creates better communication among clinicians, enabling better care for patients.

Cerner will be showcasing SkyVue at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) 2013 (in booth #4300), along with a comprehensive suite of Imaging solutions including Cerner's RIS, mammography management solution, cardiovascular suite, physician scheduling, and more that enable organizations to close the loop by storing, accessing, and sharing images and media across the continuum of care.
