DB Networks Partners With PCI Standards Council to Improve Payment Data Security Worldwide

With Expertise in Database Security for Financial Services Organizations, DB Networks to Contribute to Development of PCI Security Standards

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwired - Dec 10, 2013) - DB Networks, an innovator of behavioral analysis in database security, today announced that it has joined the PCI Security Standards Council as a new Participating Organization. DB Networks will work with the Council to achieve and improve payment data security worldwide through the ongoing development of the PCI Security Standards, including the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), PIN Transaction Security (PTS) requirements, and the Payment Application Data Security Standard (PA-DSS).

Endorsed by American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB International, MasterCard Worldwide and Visa Inc., the PCI Security Standards require merchants and service providers that store, process or transmit customer payment card data to adhere to information security controls and processes that ensure data protection. To enhance payment data security globally while embracing new technologies as they are developed, the Council relies on involvement of those across the payments processing chain, from merchants and service providers to payment device manufacturers and software developers, financial institutions and processors.

As a Participating Organization, DB Networks adds its voice to the standards setting process and will receive previews of drafts of standards and supporting materials in order to provide feedback to shape their final versions, as well as engage a growing community of more than 600 organizations united to improve payment security.

DB Networks will also have the opportunity to recommend new initiatives for consideration to the PCI Security Standards Council, participate in exclusive webinars and question and answer sessions with Council representatives, and review and discuss new versions of the PCI Security Standards while sharing cross-sector experiences and best practices at the annual Community Meetings.

"In an era of increasingly sophisticated attacks on systems, adhering to the PCI DSS represents an entity's best protection against network security threats and data breaches," said Bob Russo, General Manager of the PCI Security Standards Council. "By joining as a Participating Organization, DB Networks demonstrates they are playing an active part in mitigating the threats and improving the security of the payment chain globally by driving the security standards to higher levels of adoption and strength."

"DB Networks is dedicated to providing behavioral analysis-based database security products that ensure our customers' payment card transactions are safe and secure," said Brett Helm, Chairman and CEO of DB Networks. "Joining the PCI Security Standards Council allows us to add our expertise in database security along with the many other talented organizations on the committees which are dedicated to protecting payment card information at rest and on the network."

DB Networks' unique ability to protect databases and stored payment card information from SQL injection attacks is seeing significant traction in the financial services sector. Core Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), such as the IDS-6300 intelligent security appliance, operate on the network between the application server and the database where actual SQL injection attacks occur. The IDS-6300 leverages patented behavioral analysis technology for comprehensive SQL injection intrusion detection and defense -- uniquely addressing SQL injection issues that have plagued the industry for more than 15 years. DB Networks delivers advanced and Zero-Day SQL injection attack detection by combining behavioral analysis and advanced continuous database monitoring, addressing specific compliance requirements within PCI DSS.

About DB Networks
DB Networks is innovating behavioral analysis technology in the field of database security. Developed for organizations that need to protect their data from advanced attacks, including Zero-Day attacks, DB Networks offers effective countermeasures against SQL injection and database Denial of Service attacks. Database attacks happen rapidly -- in a matter of minutes -- and bypass traditional perimeter security measures. DB Networks' unique approach uses behavioral analysis technology to automatically learn each application's proper SQL statement behavior. Any SQL statement dispatched from the application that deviates from the established behavioral model immediately raises an alarm as a possible attack.
