Best-Selling Author Dr. Robert Melillo Launches New TV Show to Help Families With Special Needs

"The Dr. Rob Show" Will Offer Scientific Explanations and Practical Advice to Families Coping With a Wide Range of Health, Education and Special Needs Issues in Children and Adults. The First Eight Episodes Will Air on WMCN-TV in the Philadelphia Market

CHERRY HILL, N.J., Dec. 16, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Dr. Robert Melillo, the internationally known neurology expert and creator of the Brain Balance Program for working with ADHD, autism and other neurological disorders, has announced he will host a television show. "The Dr. Rob Show" is one of the first programs to address caring for a family member with a mental and behavioral disorder.

"Approximately 1 in 4 children in the U.S. have a diagnosed disorder or disability. So many families are living with these challenges," said Dr. Melillo, who has been working with neurological disorders and health issues for over 25 years. "This show is for those families."

Recent studies indicate 1 in 7 children have a diagnosed learning disability, and nearly one in five high school boys and one in 11 high school girls in the U.S. were reported by their parents as having been diagnosed with ADHD. In addition, 20% of adults have some diagnosable mental disorder or learning disability.

Dr. Melillo is best known as the creator of the Brain Balance Program, which helps children with learning and behavioral disorders through tailored sensory, motor and cognitive activities, as well as dietary changes. Today there are over 60 Brain Balance Centers in 50 cities nationwide.

"The show will include cutting-edge science and practical information about these disorders, which are rising at epidemic levels," Dr. Melillo said. "This is the most important social issue of our time."

Dr. Melillo will host the show with his wife Carolyn Melillo, who will offer makeover segments and tips for fun family activities. Each episode will feature scientific information about a specific disorder, the latest studies and advances in special needs research, and inspirational stories of families coping with special needs challenges. Nutrition and cooking segments will also be regular features. The Melillos' three children will occasionally appear, as will families who have been clients of Brain Balance Centers.

"We're excited to add "The Dr. Rob Show" to our growing line-up of original programming," said WMCN44 president Jon Gorchow. "We're happy to provide our rapidly expanding audience with shows like this that will no doubt help countless families throughout the Delaware Valley. This is yet another reason why we say that WMCN TV is Television That's Good For You!"
