Beazley Expands Breach Response Services Team

Beazley Welcomes Data Security Expert, Paul Nikhinson

PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 17, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Beazley, the pioneer in breach response insurance, today announced that prominent data privacy and security expert Paul Nikhinson has joined Beazley Breach Response Services (BBR Services) as privacy breach response services manager.

An internationally recognized expert on loss control and risk mitigation, Mr Nikhinson's appointment further strengthens BBR Services' already deep bench of data security and breach experts. In his new role, Mr Nikhinson will support Beazley's clients in matters such as data breach investigation and response, regulatory compliance, privacy policies and dispute resolution.

"Beazley is unique among insurers in having a business unit – BBR Services – dedicated exclusively to helping clients handle data breaches successfully," said Katherine Keefe, head of BBR Services.  "We recently handled our 1000th breach and I am confident that the talents that Paul brings will enhance still further the service we are able to offer clients, both in risk management and in breach response."

Prior to joining BBR Services, Mr Nikhinson was an attorney at the global law firm Clyde & Co, where he advised and educated clients on the risks and challenges of data security. He brings extensive experience to BBR Services across a range of sectors and industries.

"I am excited to join the company that invented breach response insurance," said Mr Nikhinson. "Through BBR Services, Beazley provides a fully integrated breach response service – helping clients maintain the confidence of their customers through what can otherwise be a very challenging experience."

A variety of state and federal regulations governs how and when customers must be notified after a breach has occurred, and the risk of reputational damage from a mishandled breach is high. BBR Services focuses on the coordination of the expert forensic, legal, crisis communications, notification and credit monitoring services that clients need to satisfy all legal requirements and maintain customer confidence.

In addition to coordinating data breach responses, BBR Services is responsible for maintaining and developing Beazley's suite of risk management services, designed to minimize the risk of a data breach occurring.

Beazley offers insurance tailored to the needs of individual businesses with data breach response limits based on the number of personal records compromised during a breach - up to five million. The cost of these services is not deducted from a company's coverage for liability.

Paul earned a J.D. from Boston University and his undergraduate degree from University of California, Berkeley and is a Certified Information Privacy Professional for the US and the EU.
