CompTIA Partner Advisory Council Helps Four Groups With Charitable Donations

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill., Dec. 17, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Partner Advisory Council of CompTIA, the non-profit association for the information technology (IT) industry, has donated $10,000 to help four charitable organizations with their efforts to create opportunities and lend a helping hand to individuals and families.

Donations of $2,500 each were made to Grace After Fire of Fort Worth, Texas; the National Association of Veterans Upward Bound; Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Greater Las Vegas; and TechGirlz of Philadelphia, CompTIA announced today.

"At a time when the needs of many people are great, these four organizations are performing great works," said Bruce Enright, co-chair of the CompTIA Partner Advisory Council and chief executive officer of Tallgrass Technologies. "Whether it's supporting our military veterans, helping children and families or building a foundation for career opportunities, these groups are changing lives for the better."

"Our council members feel strongly that we make a difference and have a positive impact on our communities," added Paul Cronin, council co-chair and senior vice president, Atrion Networking. "We fully support the valuable work being performed by these four organizations and trust that our financial support will help them in their efforts."

Grace After Fire helps women veterans help themselves by providing the means for them to gain knowledge, insight and self-renewal as they re-enter their communities, the workforce and as they redefine their roles for a successful future.

The National Association of Veterans Upward Bound is the professional association for Veterans Upward Bound staff personnel who work to fully develop the personal potential of all U.S. military veterans.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Las Vegas provides temporary housing for families who travel to Las Vegas to receive medical treatment for their children.

TechGirlz is dedicated to empowering girls to be future technology leaders by introducing adolescent girls to technology as a way to bridge the gender gap in the science, technology engineering and math (STEM) fields.

This is the third consecutive year that CompTIA member communities and advisory councils have made financial contributions to charitable organizations, non-profit groups and programs that are changing lives for the better through education, empowerment and opportunity.

Funding for the donations is provided by the Creating IT Futures Foundation, the charitable arm of CompTIA. The foundation helps populations that are under-represented in the IT workforce and individuals who are lacking in opportunity to prepare for, secure and be successful in IT careers.

The CompTIA Partner Advisory Council includes senior executives from many of the largest technology solution provider companies in the IT industry.
