WASHINGTON, Dec. 24, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) applauds the appointment of Sean Reyes, an award-winning nationally recognized legal professional and public servant, as the next Attorney General of Utah. Mr. Reyes assumes his new role following more than a decade as a small claims judge, and two years on the governing body of the Utah State Bar. During his tenure as President of the Utah Minority Bar, Mr. Reyes received numerous state and national honors, and served in leadership positions for the Young Lawyers Division. The new Attorney General also played a crucial role in reestablishing the Utah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and co-founded its education-targeted foundation.

After graduating summa cum laude from Brigham Young University and earning a law degree with honors from U.C. Berkeley, Reyes spent fourteen years at Parsons Behle & Latimer, the largest law firm in the state – making him one of the first Hispanic lawyers to become a partner at a major Utah firm. In addition to his extensive legal and business background, Reyes was appointed by Governor John Huntsman to serve on the Third District Judicial Nominating Commission. During his time in office, President George W. Bush established a National Congressional Commission, upon which Reyes also served and provided council.
