National Interstate Responds to the Call With New Ambulance Insurance Program

Seeking Agents to Market New Product

RICHFIELD, Ohio, Jan. 7, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- National Interstate Insurance Company, a leader in transportation insurance since 1989, announced that it will offer a new insurance program catering to for-profit emergency and non-emergency ambulance transportation operations. The company began accepting applications on January 2, 2014, and is actively seeking to increase its producer network.

National Interstate will offer the traditional insurance product through independent appointed agents, to prospective insureds, with some restrictions, in all 50 states. The comprehensive coverage package includes auto liability, auto physical damage, workers' compensation, general liability, EBL, professional liability, EPLI, property, inland marine, and crime coverages.

"We are excited to respond to market demand with our new program created specifically for privately-owned emergency and non-emergency ambulance transportation companies," said Shawn Los, Assistant Vice President at National Interstate. "Our portfolio offers a one-stop-shopping experience for a comprehensive menu of coverages, including workers' compensation. We also look forward to building new relationships through a unique distribution platform which allows agents to work directly with us – a partnership that is often difficult to find in today's MGA-driven marketplace."

"With over a decade of experience in providing medical transportation insurance, it is a natural fit for us to expand our reach with this ambulance product," said Tony Mercurio, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of National Interstate. "We have the expertise to serve this highly-specialized industry with customized products, in-house claims handling, exceptional customer service, and proactive risk management programs designed to meet the unique needs of these targeted buyers. Customers and agents can also count on our financial strength and stability. National Interstate is rated "A" (Excellent) with a positive outlook by A.M. Best Company, and has been named to Forbes 100 Most Trustworthy companies for four consecutive years."
