CHICAGO, Jan. 7, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- One month after assuming management responsibility for the City of Harrisburg parking operations, SP+ Municipal Services, an operating division of SP Plus Corporation (Nasdaq:SP), announced it will begin implementing customer enhancements for both on-street and off-street parking. Initial steps include expanded online monthly parking support and installation of state-of-the-art parking meters.
Beginning this week, all existing monthly parking customers, as well as new customers, should register for a monthly parking account at http://ParkHarrisburg.com/monthly-parking. Doing so will ensure that existing monthly customers receive regular invoices and gain access to an online payment website for monthly parking fee payment by credit card or automatic bank account withdrawal.
Additionally, the website provides the opportunity for customers to browse parking options and find additional information about planned enhancements for local garages and on-street parking meters. "Allowing consumers to find the most convenient location and immediately apply for monthly parking online simplifies and expedites the entire process, which makes it less stressful," stated Roamy Valera, Senior Vice President of SP+ Municipal Services. "And once their accounts are established, consumers also will be able to pay their bills, set up an automatic payment and view their payment history online. It's all about making things easy for the consumer."
On-street parkers will also see improvements in the coming months with the installation of new state-of-the-art parking meters. The new meter system will allow a single pay station to support multiple parking spaces, thus eliminating the need for meter placements at each space. The new pay station will provide consumers with added convenience by allowing for multiple payment options that include coin, credit card and pay by cell phone.
"The system will deliver leading-edge technology to the City and eliminate the need for our customers to carry quarters to pay for on street parking," stated Chris Sherman, SP+ Municipal Services' Senior Vice President of Operations. "The new meter parking system also will enable parkers to extend parking time by cell phone and thus avoid violations." Meter hours of operation have been expanded to 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. There will be no charge for meter parking Sunday or major holidays, including New Year's Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
