Simplicity Bank Donates Over $13,000 to Support Victims of Typhoon Haiyan

COVINA, Calif., Jan. 10, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Simplicity Bank has announced a total donation of over $13,000 to the Philippine Red Cross as a result of a companywide campaign for customers and employees to support the Typhoon Haiyan disaster relief effort through donations.

In addition to launching the companywide campaign, Simplicity Bank matched all donations dollar for dollar up to $5,000. One hundred percent of the contributions were donated directly to the Philippine Red Cross in support of the disaster relief efforts for Typhoon Haiyan victims.

"At Simplicity Bank we believe that community is not always defined by a common border, but more importantly by a common cause," said Dustin Luton, Simplicity Bank President/CEO.

Luton continued, "This is not about Simplicity Bank, this is about the compassion of our customers and employees. We had many customers directly and indirectly impacted by Typhoon Haiyan and our objective was to provide a way for their donations to go further by matching their contributions. Through the generosity of our customers and employees we surpassed our goal of a total contribution of $10,000 within one week of announcing the donation drive."
