Adapt IP Ventures Retained to Market Pixel Velocity's Patent Portfolio

ATLANTA and ANN ARBOR, Mich., Jan. 15, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Pixel Velocity, Inc. retained Adapt IP Ventures, LLC to market a subset of their patents related to Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) and Image Processing. Adapt IP and Pixel Velocity are seeking companies to acquire these non-core patent assets and Pixel Velocity would agree to split the patent portfolio based on buyer interest. Companies interested in receiving information on the Pixel Velocity patent portfolio should contact Adapt IP Ventures.

Summary of Offerings:

FPGA Patents

  • The FPGA grouping includes 4 issued US patents with applications across image processing, digital signal processing, automotive sensors, medical imaging, speech recognition, computer vision and communications. These patents have been cited over 80 times by Cypress Semiconductor, Xilinx, Apple, and Altera among the leading entities.

  • Pixel Velocity's FPGA patents relate to image processing platform architecture that is capable of dramatically speeding up the development of user-defined algorithms. The patented technology automates the process of determining what logic components are necessary and produces an optimized placement and routing of the logic on the FPGA; thus, dramatically improves the speed of trying to implement and test a previously-created user-defined algorithm.

Image Processing Patents

  • The image processing grouping – aka – Visual Key - includes 4 issued US patents with applications across social networks, security, gaming and e-commerce platforms. Pixel Velocity's patents have been cited over 75 times, most frequently by Microsoft, Apple, Sony and Google.

  • Prior to the Pixel Velocity patents, no system sufficiently solved the general problem of matching an unknown image to its counterpart in an image database. A proprietary search algorithm uses a unique visual key to match to a corresponding code in the database. This matching process is very fast and extremely accurate, even if the query key is severely degraded through compression, superimposed noise, etc.

"Pixel Velocity has been a leading innovator in video hardware and software technologies and we believe that now is the time to capitalize on these value assets through a broad and aggressive sales program," stated Grant Moss, Founder and President of Adapt IP Ventures.
