Caverion provides maintenance for media group RTL site in Cologne, Germany

Caverion and RTL Television GmbH have concluded an agreement for the maintenance of building technology systems in Cologne's Rheinhallen. Caverion will be both prolonging and expanding its presence at RTL media group´s headquarters.

Entering into force on 1 January 2014, the agreement covers the maintenance and servicing of the ventilation and air conditioning technology, cooling and sanitation systems. Caverion will also be responsible for supply and return air systems, smoke extraction systems, air-circulating cooling units, chillers and exhaust fans throughout the property. Caverion will also ensure a 24-hour emergency call-out service.

The Rheinhallen were used as the Cologne exhibition center from 1928 to 2005. The facade has been declared a historic monument. After 2005 the Rheinhallen had to be renovated and were transformed to office spaces and a broadcast center for German TV station RTL. The gross floor is about 160,000 m² and the production area of RTL is about 17,000 m², which includes two television studios with high requirements to air conditioning and acoustics.

Caverion has been involved in the renovation phase of Rheinhallen already in 2009, when it was responsible for air conditioning in the television studios, amongst other things.
