Photo Release -- From the Waist Up- the Sky's the Limit: Belt Designer, Suzi Roher Enters Europe With Scarf Line for Fall 2014 ... and Not on the Runway

TORONTO, Jan. 29, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Thirty years after bringing her inaugural line to market, Suzi Roher is again heading into Europe; this time with her budding scarf business. Recognized as a globally established belt brand, the company's first foray into the new category came in Fall 2013, beginning with North America. The Toronto-based designer whose belts can be found in department stores like Neiman Marcus, Saks and Holt Renfrew, and a plethora of specialty stores intercontinentally plans to pave her way across the pond and well beyond with her scarves in the upcoming season.

The soft handle of the weave and brilliant hues have already made the Suzi Roher scarves a stand-out stateside, including distribution in such boutiques as Frances Kahn, Intermix, Gus Mayer and more.   As for the process, the scarves are all hand made in Italian artisanal mills from Italian cashmere, silk, and modal yarns. Each scarf undergoes a rare and unique, twelve-step treatment of dyeing and washing that renders it exceptionally airy and vibrant in color. From famous faces to scenic street scenes, animals and graffiti in between, several of the pieces contain original art and photography that dissolve into obscured forms and layered colors when worn.

With Fall 2014 fashion collections ready to take the catwalk, don't expect the accessories designer to be sitting on the sidelines. "Fashion Week, whether it be New York, Milan or Paris, is as much about what is happening inside the runway venue as is outside," says Roher. "Street style is so exciting! You can see the influences of music, film, art and current news... and of course, there is travel!" she muses.

Amongst the 30 styles in the Fall 2014 collection are names like Carnaby Street, Bardot, The Neighborhood and even Madonna- the pop Icon, that is. "The overall inspiration will always be something 'artistic' with a little poetry and fun mixed in," explains Michael Day, Roher's partner in life and business as well as the Photographer and Art Director. "We like to tell 'stories'. Some of these stories are rendered in pieces like Rita's Wedding or Sunglasses; the latter to be seen in the newest ad campaign, being waved like a flag by the duo's daughter and brand model, Samantha as she rides on the back of a motorcycle in Thailand.

As several of Suzi Roher's US and Canadian belt clients satisfactorily bought into the scarves thus far, the brand hopes to accomplish the same as they begin their break into European market. Scarves will be sold at retail for € 210.00 - € 285.00 and will be available for purchase at select boutiques, department and specialty stores across the continent and beyond come late summer.
