York County Department of Emergency Services Completes Successful Dispatch Upgrade

New World Systems' Software Helps Quickly and Effectively Manage Emergency Response Operations for the Large Multi-Jurisdictional Dispatch Center

TROY, Mich., Feb. 3, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- York County Department of Emergency Services (YCDES), Pennsylvania, has implemented new 9-1-1 technology that is streamlining the County's emergency dispatch process. YCDES is now live on New World Systems' Aegis™ Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) Enterprise.NET software, developed on the Microsoft .NET platform. The new CAD solution, designed to be highly reliable and scalable, is helping the YCDES quickly and safely handle over 400,000 Law Enforcement, Fire and EMS calls for service yearly.

"This change reflects York County's ongoing commitment to improve public safety and efficiency through the responsible use of technology," said YCDES Executive Director Eric Bistline. "This system is now even more dynamic, making it faster to identify and dispatch the correct equipment."

New World's CAD Enterprise.NET leverages the latest advancements in CAD technology, embedded ESRI® mapping, and proximity-based and resource-based dispatching to facilitate fast decision making and accurate resource management. Because of the system's flexibility and advanced unit recommendation engine, the total number of YCDES response plans for particular incident types has been reduced by more than 90 percent. This means significantly less time required for system maintenance, while providing dynamic unit recommendations for YCDES dispatchers during an emergency.

"It's a paradigm shift, but we are embracing the new functionality that New World's .NET software brings," said Bistline. "Our dispatchers are getting used to the software, and the new functionality it offers has been very well received. There are more advantages than we imagined on the administration side: from reducing data entry to simplifying daily changes in the system, everything is much more streamlined."

A New World CAD customer since 2005, the YCDES made the decision to move to the new software to meet their future technology needs. YCDES serves more than 400,000 York County residents, and provides communications for 23 Law Enforcement agencies, 63 Fire Departments and 35 EMS agencies.

Trusted by more than 1,000 public sector organizations nationwide, New World Systems designs, develops, markets, supports and implements the integrated Aegis™ Suite of Public Safety Solutions for Law Enforcement, Fire and EMS and Logos.NET™ Public Administration Suite for local governments.
