China's High-Speed Train: Big Debut on Times Square

BEIJING, Feb. 3, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- On February 3rd, the fourth day on the lunar year, China's high-speed train, 380A makes an impressive debut on the advertisement screen of the NASDAQ board in New York's Times Square. At this "crossroads of the word", the high-end train portrays the new image of "made in China."

The promotional video is a production of CSR Corporation Limited to bring China's HS train to the world, which transformed people's life with its speed, safety and comfort. This year's Spring Festival rush sees the largest human migration in the world, as a total of 3.6 billion trips are expected, equal to 2.8 trips per person for China's 1.3 billion population. Trains are still the most popular choice, while HS trains are the superstars on the rail.

By the end of 2013, the traffic mileage for China's HS train totaled 10 thousand, with 12 thousand more still under construction; and these achievements awarded China with two world records – the longest operating distance and the largest constructing scale. The trains at the speed of 300m/h largely save the travelling time for passengers, as the typical lines being Beijing-Shanghai and Beijing-Guangzhou. At the same time, the trains operate as the engine of regional economic development, whose operation ushered in more frequent business exchanges and greater economic vitality. Statistics shows that the HS trains currently in operation shared a freight load of 230 million per year and experts predict that a one-percent increase in railway freight may save a logistic cost worth RMB 21.2 billion.

The extraordinary performance of China's high-speed railway has drawn the attention of the world. Partners from more than 50 countries have contacted CSR for collaboration exchanges, with 20 of which CSR have proceeded to in-depth communication. The Corporation has spotted the potential markets, like US, Brazil, Russia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Romania. In 2013, CSR joined hands with Thailand in the establishment of the High-speed Railway Research Center, with the purpose of providing technical assistance to Thailand's HSR plan. The high-speed EMU, CRH380A in the promotional video is one of the representative products of CSR, which has enjoyed a safe-operation distance of 3.5 million miles.

Times Square lies at the junction of Broadway, Seventh Avenue and West 42nd, making it one of the four prime locations to promote major brands. In 2011, at this exact spot, China staged a high-profile campaign with a 60-second video to promote its national image.
