WASHINGTON, Feb. 6, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Cuneo Gilbert & LaDuca, LLP (CGL), a DC-based law firm known for its complex litigation, government relations and public advocacy experience, has hired two attorneys to help form its new Intellectual Property Practice Group. Bradford Kile, a former Patent Judge and head of Baker & McKenzie's DC intellectual property (IP) practice, and Yifei "Evelyn" Li, a Chinese law expert, join CGL's Joel Davidow, a former Chief of the Foreign Commerce Section of the U.S. Department of Justice and university professor as the Group core. Mr. Kile became affiliated with CGL last year and will head the IP Practice Group.
Bradford Kile has over 40 years of experience in high level patent and trademark prosecution, licensing, counseling and litigation. He has successfully litigated a number of high stakes patent and trademark cases for American and foreign clients. Prior to joining CGL, Brad served as a Patent Judge for the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board, as a Patent Examiner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and was an International Partner of Baker & McKenzie and headed Baker's DC-based intellectual property and information technology practice. Brad has an engineering degree from Ohio State University and a JD and Master's Degree in IP law, with highest honors, from George Washington University Law School. He has clerked on the U.S. Court of Federal Claims and taught patent appellate practice at George Mason Law School for fifteen years.
Joel Davidow, CGL's expert in patent-antitrust interface issues, has successfully asserted and defended IP misconduct charges and defenses in international litigation. Joel has served as Chief of the U.S. Department of Justice's Foreign Commerce Section, negotiated on behalf of the developed country bloc at the United Nations on a proposed code of conduct for the transfer of technology, and has lectured in a dozen countries on IP law/competition law tensions. Joel has taught at Columbia University, Georgetown University, Johns Hopkins University and George Mason University Law School and authored multi-edition books on international antitrust and patent misconduct issues. He graduated from Princeton University summa cum laude and earned a JD from Columbia University Law School.
Yifei "Evelyn" Li trained in legal analysis of international IP and competition issues at the Beijing Foreign Studies University Law School and worked for a district judge in Wuhan, China as well as a large domestic law firm in Beijing. Evelyn obtained an LL.M. degree from The George Washington University Law School and interned for Chief Judge Randall R. Rader of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. She is fluent in English and in spoken and written Mandarin.
