On February 4, 2014 we have been notified pursuant to § 21 para. 1 WpHG of
the following:
The proportion of voting rights via shares of BlackRock Group Limited,
London, U.K. in Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, has fallen below the
threshold of 5% of the voting rights on January 31, 2014 and at that time
amounted to 4.89% (3,162,366 voting rights). All voting rights were
attributed to BlackRock Group Limited pursuant to § 22 para. 1 sentence 1
no. 6 WpHG in conjunction with § 22 para 1 sentence 2 WpHG.
