Invited to present a paper in each of the four conference sessions, as well as to chair a session, AVX's presence at CMSE 2014 is a testament to its dedication to the design & development of advanced military & space electronics

GREENVILLE, S.C., Feb. 6, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- AVX Corporation, a leading manufacturer of passive components and interconnect solutions, has been invited to deliver four technical presentations and chair a conference session at the 18th annual Components for Military & Space Electronics Conference & Exhibition (CMSE 2014), which will take place February 18-20, 2014 at the LAX Radisson Hotel in Los Angeles.

Recognized as the premier conference for addressing testing, reliability, and supply chain topics as they pertain to electronic components employed in military and space electronics, in addition to emphasizing technological advancements and design practices, CMSE 2014 will consist of two keynote presentations, two tutorials, and four conference sessions, each of which will feature an AVX presentation.

"We are extremely pleased to have been invited to participate in each of the four conference sessions at CMSE 2014, and I am honored to be chairing the Rad Hard and Space Components session," said AVX Fellow Ron Demcko. "CMSE is created by engineers for engineers and product management, and is dedicated to sharing information about and addressing and solving issues pertaining to military and space components.  As such, it is an honor and a privilege to be allowed to present at such an important, industry-shaping event."

Sessions one and two will both be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2014.  In Session 1: Construction and Application, AVX Fellow Ron Demcko, Field Applications Engineer Edgardo Menendez, and Business Unit Manager George White will present "Multilayer Components – A Potential Alternate to LTCC and Multilayer Ceramic Devices," which will focus on the physical and electrical benefits that multilayer organic (MLO) components offer over traditional LTCC and multilayer ceramic devices, as well as address the concept of and production methods for MLO components.  In Session 2: Reliability, Testing, and Analysis, Applications Engineer Brian Brunette, will present, "Reaching the Highest Reliability for Tantalum Capacitors."

Sessions three and four will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2014.  In Session 3: Supply Chain – Counterfeits and Obsolete, Ron Demcko, Senior Technical Staff Member Andy Ritter, and Field Applications Engineer Pat Hollenbeck will present "Low Inductance MLCC Evolution, Advantages, and Applications," which will address the remarkable strides that have been made toward mitigating parasitic losses, such as inductance and ESR, in ceramic capacitors.  Lastly, chaired by Ron Demcko, Session 4: Rad Hard and Space Components will feature a second presentation by Pat Hollenbeck, "Base Metal Electrode (BME) Technology for Space Applications," which will provide attendees with updated information about BME testing and reliability and the advanced dielectrics, metals, and processing that have enabled the creation of BME components that are just as reliable as precious metal electrode (PME) components.
