The USHCC Applauds Verizon for its Diverse Collection of Underwriters

WASHINGTON, Feb. 11, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) congratulates Verizon Communications Inc., a longstanding partner of the USHCC, for successfully trading $500 million in retail notes last week, and proudly recognizes the Hispanic-owned businesses investing on the transaction as underwriters. Verizon plans to release its notes on the New York Stock Exchange in the coming month.

"The USHCC applauds Verizon for, once again, exhibiting inclusive and sound business practices that not only help the bottom line — but most importantly — empower our nation's diverse small business community. This move will allow numerous minority-owned firms to invest in one of the globe's leading telecommunications brands, resulting in sustainable growth that will take these firms to the perennial next level of success," said USHCC President & CEO Javier Palomarez.

Verizon is a founding member of the Billion Dollar Roundtable (BDR), and has spent over $20 billion with diverse suppliers in the past five years, alone. The company's issuing of bonds to Hispanic — and other minority-owned firms — is yet another example of its strong commitment to provide procurement opportunities to minority-owned businesses.
