Metsä Group  Press Release 17 February 2014

This summer, Metsä Group will offer 1,000 young people with the opportunity to develop their competencies in a Finnish forest industry group operating in the international markets. Approximately 700 of the jobs are in Finland. In addition, 150 young people will be provided with a shorter traineeship.

"Employing young people is about taking corporate responsibility," says Anneli Karhula, Senior Vice President, HR, of Metsä Group. "We are happy to give young people opportunities to obtain work experience with our high-quality, innovative products and services. At the same time, summer jobs allow young people to demonstrate their skills to a potential future employer. Young people are a valuable resource to us during the holiday season. Our line of business is renewing itself continuously and we will need new talent in all our businesses in the next few years. The forest industry is a strong future industry."

"Metsä Board's production will also be in full swing in the summer." At Metsä Board, summer employees will get to perform real work," says Petri Vakkilainen, Vice President, Production. "We provide work experience to motivated, positive young people who are interested in our business; the experience will be useful to them in future studies and in finding a job. We provide extensive induction for our employees in regard to safe working methods and our way of operating."

"The summer employee selection process of the pulp business, too, emphasises activeness, a willingness to develop oneself further and to learn something new," says Ismo Nousiainen, Senior Vice President, Production, of Metsä Fibre. "We will hire summer employees who study process technology or automation, electrical or mechanical machine installation. Summer jobs are part of the recruitment process of future Metsä Fibre employees. Those who have done well in their summer job and studies have a good opportunity to be successful later, too, when we are looking for people to fill versatile and challenging posts."
