Texas Bitcoin Conference Coming to Austin

Premiere Two-Day Event Features First-Ever Bitcoin-Exclusive Concert by Grammy-Nominated Carolyn Malachi, Plus a $1 Million Hackathon

AUSTIN, TX--(Marketwired - Feb 19, 2014) - The Texas Bitcoin Association today announced that the first-ever Texas Bitcoin Conference (http://texasbitcoinconference.com/) will be occurring in Austin on Wed., March 5, and Thurs., March 6, 2014. The event will be held at the Technology and Conference Center located at the Circuit of the Americas motor racing complex, 9201 Circuit of the Americas Blvd., Austin, TX 78617.

Thousands of merchants and consumers interested in Bitcoin adoption -- as well as inventors, entrepreneurs, engineers and the curious public -- are expected to attend the conference, which will be organized into three speaking tracks and feature an exhibit hall and open-air networking lobby.

The Bitcoin 2.0 Hackathon: Building Next Generation Decentralized Applications & Protocols will take place both days. Teams will compete for more than $1 million in prizes and contracts offered by the Mastercoin Foundation, Open-Transactions (Monetas), Ethereum, BitAngels and others.

The concert featuring Grammy-nominated singer Carolyn Malachi -- and special guests to be announced -- will take place on Thurs., March 6 at 8:30 p.m. Malachi is the first known recording artist to accept Bitcoin payments for her music. Tickets are available independently of the conference but can only be purchased using Bitcoin. The purchase price will be "pay what you want" with a suggested amount of $25 in Bitcoin. All proceeds will go to Jason King's Sean's Outpost homeless sanctuary in Florida. For more information regarding the concert, go to www.bitcoincert.org.
