Deakin University Selects NASDAQ OMX's BWise for Enterprise Risk Management

BWise Integrated GRC Platform enables Deakin to manage enterprise wide risks efficiently and effectively

MELBOURNE, Australia and DEN BOSCH, Netherlands, Feb. 19, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- BWise, a NASDAQ OMX (NASDAQ:NDAQ) company and a global leader in Governance, Risk Management and Compliance (GRC) software today announced that it has been selected by Deakin University, one of Australia's largest universities with almost 47,000 students. Deakin selected BWise as its eGRC platform to support the University with enhancing its risk identification and control management strategy and to assist in achieving its business goals.

Deakin University wanted a software solution that was able to standardize its risk and controls management practices in one framework that could be embedded across the University providing one, holistic view on their risks. BWise was selected because of the flexibility and rich functionality of its integrated platform, the ease of configuration and availability of local support. With the BWise integrated GRC solution, Deakin is able to create management reports and dashboards to capture and monitor risk issues and compliance obligations.

Established in 1974, Deakin has almost 47,000 students and is Australia's ninth-largest university. Deakin is committed to quality and accountability in all their operations, ensuring that there are appropriate processes in place to maintain and enhance the quality and integrity of their research, teaching and learning. As a large university with multiple operations it is important for Deakin to identify risks, prioritize them and mitigate these risks within every part of the organization as part of their current risk management framework.

"After a competitive process we are pleased to have selected BWise as our supplier for an integrated risk and compliance approach. The BWise system offers superior functionality and not only meets our needs now but will continue to meet our needs in the future," said Angela Avgerinos, Director Corporate Governance Risk and Compliance, Deakin University.

"We are delighted that Deakin University has chosen BWise to support its risk and compliance management journey," said Mark Harris, Regional Director Australia, BWise. "Universities face a broad range of risks in areas such as increased competition, increased regulatory pressure and the ever-important focus of managing the organization's reputation. As a result, universities are looking to integrate risk management into their day-to-day activities at every organizational level while also ensuring proper oversight of risks, and to strengthen their enterprise risk management (ERM) frameworks. Many leading organizations are adopting and using the BWise integrated GRC solutions to gain a deeper and more real-time visibility into their risks and overarching control frameworks."
