FREMONT, Calif., March 6, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Oplink Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq:OPLK), a leading provider of optical communication components, intelligent modules and subsystems, today announced that it will be demonstrating its 4x28G metro DWDM CFP at OFC 2014. This demonstration highlights Oplink's ability and commitment to provide industry-leading cost efficient 100G solutions for optical networking applications.

Oplink's 4x28G metro DWDM CFP transceiver utilizes mature, mass-produced optical components with simple OOK modulation format and direct detection receiver followed by a state-of-the-art MLSE (Maximum Likelihood Sequence Estimation) digital signal processor. This new line offers much improved performances with transmission distance from 40 to several hundred kilometers that are optimally suited for high volume 100G applications, e.g. inter-data center connections, next generation broadband wireless back hauling, and metro DWDM aggregation and transport. Customers can also benefit from its lower cost, lower power dissipation and lower latency than alternative technologies such as DP QPSK. Product samples are available now.

During the week of OFC 2014 conference and exhibition, Dr. Rang-Chen Yu, Vice President of Business Development of Oplink, will be presenting Oplink's perspectives on providing cost effective 100G/400G solutions in the following panel discussions:

  • "Low cost 100G Interfaces for Metro Access: Standardized or Proprietary?" a workshop panel on Monday, March 10, 10:30am-12pm, Dr. Yu will present "Cost Efficient 100G Transceiver with Direct Detection for Metro Applications."

  • "100/400G Pluggable Optics and its Enabling Technologies," a Market Watch Panel on Thursday, March 13, 10:30am-12:30pm, Dr. Yu will address "Cost Efficient 100G/400G Optical Transceiver Solutions."

The live demo of 4x28G metro DWDM CFP will be showcased together with Oplink's RayXpress™ ROADM platform. In addition, Oplink will have on display highlighted products from its broad portfolio of optical products, including its latest WSS, amplifiers, passive devices and portfolio of 10G-100G transceivers. Visit Oplink at OFC 2014, March 11-13, at the Moscone Center, Booth #1621.
