A favorite among Chicago's running community, the annual St. Paddy's 5K & 8K Walk/Run kicks off the outdoor season with a competitive, timed run. The event includes a costume contest, post-race party and more. The event will raise money for the Greater Chicago Food Depository, which serves the community through a network of more than 650 pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and other programs.

According to the Affordable Care Act (ACA), individuals need to have health insurance coverage by March 31, 2014, in order to avoid government tax penalties. In 2014, a family that fails to get insurance will have to pay 1 percent of their income or $95 per adult and $47.50 per child—whichever is greater. The penalties will increase to 2 percent in 2015 and 2.5 percent in 2016.
