COSTA MESA, Calif., March 17, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Fulfilling the need to help the homeless, employees of Morgan Drexen, a leading provider of software and support services to businesses nationwide, (http://www.morgandrexen.com) continued their support of the Orange County Rescue Mission by donating their time last week to serve chili alongside the folks from the Mission, staffing the "Chili Van" and serving hot meals to those living on the streets.
"Our employees have been very generous when it comes to helping the homeless through the Rescue Mission," said Morgan Drexen CEO, Walter Ledda. "During the past 12 months, our employees have donated thousands of pounds of food in a food drive, volunteered 3 times for the Chili Van, and decorated Christmas Trees throughout our building with items that were donated to children in need – it's amazing."
Morgan Drexen's support of the O.C. Rescue Mission is part of a company-wide program of assisting charitable organizations, foundations, and fundraising events that make an impact in the community.
In addition to providing hot meals at their location, the Orange County Rescue Mission provides the service of giving a free hot meal to homeless people every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at various locations in Orange County. Morgan Drexen employees volunteering last week with the van when it was serving homeless people at the Santa Ana Civic Center, served over 350 meals.
"This is something we love to do," said Thomas Leftwich, Morgan Drexen Human Resources Coordinator. "As soon as we posted a sign-up sheet, we had volunteers signing up, even though it meant being away from their own homes and families until late in the evening."
The Orange County Rescue Mission serves nearly 4,000 meals a day to individuals who may be homeless or who do not have the means to put food on their tables. Last year the Mission served over 1.2 million meals in Orange County.
