Park Harrisburg Announces St. Patrick's Day Parade Parking Advisory


WASHINGTON, March 19, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Harrisburg St. Patrick's Day Parade, hosted by Capital Region Association of Irish and Celts (CRAIC), will begin Saturday, March 22 at 2 p.m. Parade watchers and participants should be aware of the following parking information:

The parade will start at Walnut Street and Commonwealth Avenue, proceed south on Walnut to 2nd Street, then turn west onto North Street. The parade ends at North Street and Commonwealth Avenue. Parking will not be permitted along the parade route. Meters along the parade route will be bagged.

  • A Special Flat /All Day rate of $10 will be available at the Market Square Garage.
  • A Special Flat /All Day rate of $5 will be available at the 7th Street Garage.
  • The Walnut, Chestnut, and River Street garages will be open, but are difficult to reach in the hours leading up to and during the parade. Regular hourly rates apply.

According to the CRAIC website, "The Parade staging area is located on the Capitol Complex grounds behind the Commonwealth State Capitol Building. Please note that vehicular access to the Capitol Complex will be restricted Parade Day to only those vehicles that will appear in the parade and vehicles transporting horses."
