Power Solutions International Welcomes Illinois Senate President John Cullerton

WOOD DALE, Ill., March 24, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Power Solutions International, Inc. (PSI) (Nasdaq:PSIX), the global alternative-fuel engine company, recently welcomed Illinois Senate President and Senator for the 6th District, John Cullerton, to its Wood Dale headquarters and manufacturing facility.

On March 14, Senator Cullerton visited PSI to learn more about the company and its role in the cleantech economy.

"We were pleased to host Senator Cullerton and appreciate his interest in learning about PSI and our contributions to economic growth in Illinois," said Eric Cohen, Chief Operating Officer of PSI. "We believe public-private partnerships can improve economic opportunities in Illinois and so were interested in his thoughts on bringing real-world business effectiveness to state policies."

Cohen noted that PSI is an excellent example of a fast-growing Illinois company in which innovation is driving economic growth and job creation. In the last two years, the company doubled the size of its Illinois manufacturing facilities to nearly 500,000 square feet and increased its workforce to over 450 employees. PSI's technology-rich, fuel-flexible engines power everything from forklifts to oil and gas exploration power generators to delivery trucks.

During his visit, Senator Cullerton sought insights on how cleantech industries can impact the manufacturing climate in the U.S. and Illinois.

"As the world's largest industrial alternative-fuel engine provider, PSI is creating the kind of good manufacturing jobs needed in Illinois and America," said Jeremy Lessaris, Global Director of Marketing and Communications for PSI. "Our engines are a key catalyst for the cleantech economy, allowing a range of industries to make the leap from traditional fuels like diesel to cleaner-burning, domestically-produced fuels like natural gas."

PSI engines ease adaptation to new federal emission regulations by enabling companies to benefit from less costly, abundant domestic energy sources, a shift that helps the environment and promotes U.S. energy independence. In addition, PSI products help support the broader economy of American industrial component suppliers and OEMs.

"I'm impressed by Power Solutions International's commitment to improving both the Illinois economy and the environment through cleantech innovation and manufacturing. PSI stands out as a model for job growth and success in Illinois and in the international community," said Senator Cullerton at the conclusion of his visit.
