UNITED STATES HISPANIC CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES THE AT THE TABLE ENTREPRENEURSHIP COMPETITION

WASHINGTON, March 26, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) Foundation announced today the launch of the At the Table Entrepreneurship Competition, an initiative that not only supports Latina entrepreneurs, but all women throughout the United States and the world.

This inaugural competition was launched in partnership with the Kauffman Foundation, Cosmopolitan for Latinas, Facebook, Google, Comcast, Doral Bank and Nielson during the USHCC's 2014 Legislative Summit in Washington, D.C.

"Women are leaders, consensus builders, and collaborators. With women at the helm, everybody wins. The USHCC and our partners understand the potential of women entrepreneurs and their role in ensuring America's business future. Latina-owned businesses are the fastest-growing business segment in the country, and are influencing growth in critical industries like technology, financial services and healthcare, among others," said USHCC President & CEO Javier Palomarez. "The USHCC Foundation's At the Table: Women in Business and Leadership initiative will assist in fostering the growth of America's women entrepreneurs and business professionals."

At the Table: Women in Business and Leadership ensures women entrepreneurs receive the resources, skills, and support they need to achieve higher levels of success and influence. At the Table is a multifaceted platform that leverages existing resources, influential leadership, and networks that bolster the growth of women-owned businesses.

"As a businesswoman, I know that the journey to achieve our dreams comes with many challenges, but our ambition, vision and leadership result in great success. But we can't do it alone," said Nina Vaca, USHCC Chair Emeritus and Founder of At the Table. "I call on each of us, women and men, to pledge to empower one another. Join me and many entrepreneurs, corporations, non-profit and government leaders across the country in the At the Table movement."

Aspiring women entrepreneurs are encouraged to apply. Founders of either recent, high-growth startups or established, large companies are eligible to participate. Ten candidates will be selected as the U.S. winners of the At the Table Entrepreneurship Competition, and three will be selected as the At the Table Entrepreneurship Global Winners. The awards will be announced at the USHCC's National Convention in Salt Lake City, UT September 21-23, 2014, the largest gathering of Hispanic business in America. The application deadline is June 15, 2014. To apply, visit www.ushccfoundation.org.
