NASDAQ OMX and Chaikin Analytics Introduce Enhanced Alpha Indexes

NASDAQ Chaikin Power Indexes Expand Smart-Beta by Creating Quantitatively Enabled Strategies Based on Chaikin Power Gauge Rating

NEW YORK, April 3, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc. (Nasdaq:NDAQ) and Chaikin Analytics, LLC announced today the launch of three NASDAQ Chaikin Power Indexes: the NASDAQ Chaikin Power US Large Cap IndexSM (NQULCHK), the NASDAQ Chaikin Power US Small Cap IndexSM (NQUSCHK), and the NASDAQ Chaikin Power US Dividend Achievers IndexSM (NQDACHK). These new indexes are rules-based, quantitatively enabled investment strategies, designed to outperform their respective benchmarks and are based on the Chaikin Power Gauge, a multi-factor quantitative model.

Referred to as enhanced alpha indexes, the NASDAQ Chaikin Power Indexes filter the NASDAQ US 300 IndexSM, NASDAQ US 1500 IndexSM and NASDAQ US Broad Dividend Achievers IndexSM utilizing the Chaikin Power Gauge. The NASDAQ Chaikin Power Indexes are available to fund managers, advisors and investors for licensing and implementation through separately managed accounts and ETFs.

"Marc Chaikin has been a pioneer in equity analytics on Wall Street for decades, and Chaikin Analytics provides investors with the unbiased investment tools, analytics and strategies our customers demand," said John Jacobs, Executive Vice President, NASDAQ OMX Global Information Services. "The NASDAQ Chaikin Power Indexes offer investment and asset managers unique, quantitatively-enabled strategies to provide client portfolios with enhanced index performance while maintaining the liquidity and transparency standards they require."

The Chaikin Power Gauge, the centerpiece of Chaikin Analytics and of the index construction, is based on a proprietary multi-factor model that combines fundamental, technical and sentiment factors into a rating that indicates a security's statistical probability to over or under perform the market in the intermediate term. This methodology, coupled with a defined set of rules and criteria applied in a systematic and consistent manner, creates these enhanced alpha indexes.

"Enhanced alpha products, such as the NASDAQ Chaikin Power Indexes, represent the next generation of product innovation," commented Marc Chaikin, CEO and founder of Chaikin Analytics. "These indexes combine the best traits of smart beta and actively managed ETFs with enhanced performance by narrowing existing indexes down to their most promising constituents. By partnering with an innovative, market-leading, global index provider such as NASDAQ OMX Global Indexes, asset managers and investors around the world will now have access to these unique, enhanced investment strategies."

The initial group of NASDAQ Chaikin Power Indexes, listed below, is the result of collaboration between NASDAQ OMX® and Chaikin Analytics, LLC.
