USHCC Congratulates Martha Montoya on Her Appointment to the California Board of Food and Agriculture

WASHINGTON, April 3, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) proudly congratulates Martha Montoya, Founder and President of Los Kitos Produce, on her appointment to the California State Board of Food and Agriculture by California Governor Jerry Brown.

In this new role, Montoya will join a team responsible for advising the governor on sate policies impacting farmers, ranchers, and the agricultural community at large. Montoya is currently the Vice President of the National Association of Hispanic Publications (NAHP) Board of Directors and a former member of the USHCC Board of Directors.

"The USHCC is proud to see its very own Martha Montoya step into this important leadership role, and commends Governor Brown on his excellent choice," said USHCC President & CEO Javier Palomarez. "California farmers and ranchers play a profound role in ensuring the United States continues to be the world leader in agriculture. America's farmers are comprised of hardworking, resilient, and entrepreneurial men and women that deserve formidable champions, and that is precisely what Ms. Montoya brings to the table. I look forward to celebrating the future success she and Governor Brown will generate for California's agricultural community."

For years, Ms. Montoya has served at the helm of numerous organizations, helping foster strategic alliances between business leaders and government officials. Her work covers an array of specialties, including nutrition and health, food safety and quality assurance, procurement and access to capital, as well as corporate responsibility.

"As America's original entrepreneurs, American farmers and ranchers truly are the foundation of our nation's economy," said USHCC Chairman Emeritus Nina Vaca. "California farmers are the number one economic contributors in their respective industry, in part because Governor Brown's administration stands behind them, rather than standing in the way with too many regulatory restrictions. Martha Montoya has offered remarkable insight and wise counsel to our organization – I have no doubt she will be an indispensable advisor to Governor Brown and members of this board."
