Stratfor's Scott Stewart to Speak on Drug Cartel Activity and Updated Security Concerns at U.S.-Mexico Border Security Summit

AUSTIN, TX--(Marketwired - Apr 9, 2014) - Stratfor Vice President of Tactical Analysis Scott Stewart will provide chief security officers of leading multinational businesses with a better understanding of the evolving Mexican drug cartel threat when he presents at the upcoming U.S.-Mexico Border Security Summit, happening April 15-16 in El Paso, Texas.

Presented by ASIS International's CSO Roundtable initiative, the event provides an opportunity for security leaders from both countries to collaborate and address critical security concerns along one of the world's busiest international borders.

Stewart is a former U.S. State Department special agent and supervises Stratfor's analysis of terrorism and security issues. His presentation, Border Potential Threats: Intelligence, will address the increased violence in Mexico City's periphery, the status of the Sinaloa Federation following the recent arrest of Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman Loera, the continued demise of the Knights Templar cartel, and other significant border security updates.

"The U.S.-Mexico border region is both a dynamic atmosphere for business and a dynamic atmosphere for cartel-related activity," said Stewart. "In order to provide the safest business environment possible, it's vital for security managers at companies with operations in or near Mexico to have the right intelligence and remain constantly aware of the changes occurring across different cartels and the violence associated with these groups."

Stewart contributes to Stratfor's Mexico Security Monitor service, which delivers actionable intelligence and forecasts on drug cartel violence so that clients can make proactive decisions involving their business operations or interests in Mexico. Clients receive daily intelligence summaries, weekly analysis, real-time critical alerts, and quarterly reports and webcasts focused on the cartel war, including its effects on the U.S.-Mexico border region.
