Talentum to merge the Tivi and Tietokone magazines
Talentum will merge the Tivi and Tietokone magazines. The content guidelines and name of the new monthly magazine will be decided together with the readers.
"We have two great brands: Tivi and Tietokone. We will probably use either name. We are listening to our customers with sensitive ears," says Tuomas Hämäläinen, Director, Magazine Business Finland.
Until now, Tivi has been published in tabloid format twice a month. Tietokone, on the other hand, is a monthly periodical. The new magazine will be a periodical. Therefore, in terms of layout, it will be more similar to Tietokone. The first issue of the new magazine will come out in mid-June.
The reason behind the change is the will to serve ICT customers even better than before. In addition to ICT professionals, the revamped magazine is also targeted at those who utilise IT in their work.
"The revamping of the ICT magazines has been on our agenda for a long time. We began to envisage it last autumn, when Talentum acquired the Tietokone magazine from Sanoma Magazines. Tietokone's and Tivi's readers have a lot in common, so the merger was the natural choice. The new magazine will be the absolute number one in the ICT sector. It’s is a clear target that we are also going to achieve," says Hämäläinen.
Talentum is carrying out a survey to find out what direction the readers want the new magazine to go in. The aim of the new magazine is to address, among other things, topical themes and business for the ICT sector. Mikko Torikka, the Editor-in-Chief of Talentum's ICT magazines, promises that, for example, the magazine will continue to deal with equipment testing. According to Torikka, the less frequent publication will enable to spend more time on stories and further increase the quality of the final result.
With the merging of the magazines, efforts will be made to direct ICT enthusiasts more to the MPC magazine which is an ICT magazine published by Talentum and which is directed at ICT enthusiasts.
The editorial offices of Tivi and Tietokone will be merged as a result of the change, and cooperation with the editorial office of MPC will be increased.
