LRAD Corporation Receives $1,000,000 Follow-On Order for Public Safety in Asia

SAN DIEGO, April 10, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- LRAD Corporation (Nasdaq:LRAD), the world's leading provider of long range acoustic hailing devices (AHDs), today announced the receipt of a $1 million follow-on order for LRAD® 500 systems and accessories from a customer in Asia that had previously ordered during last year's fiscal fourth quarter. These units will be mounted on vehicles and used for military and police applications. The order is scheduled to ship by September 30, 2014.

"This follow-on order is a testament to the success the end user is having with the LRAD systems already deployed," noted Tom Brown, President and CEO of LRAD Corporation. "We continue to see strong development and growth in international markets, particularly in Asia. Military and police organizations around the world are using Long Range Acoustic Devices® to provide a layered defense strategy for land forces to fill the gap between initial engagement and employing lethal force. It allows personnel time and distance to distinguish between security threats and innocent civilians."

LRAD's proprietary AHD systems broadcast highly intelligible warnings, instructions and critical information over distances of 200 meters up to 3.5 kilometers. Through the use of multilingual voice commands and warning tones, LRAD systems assist government, public safety and commercial security personnel in creating large standoff zones, determining intent, and peacefully resolving uncertain situations, to save lives on both sides of the Long Range Acoustic Device.
