The Ensign Group Acquires Boise, Idaho Based Home Health and Hospice Agency

EAGLE, Idaho, April 11, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Ensign Group, Inc. (Nasdaq:ENSG), the parent company of the Ensign™ Group of skilled nursing, rehabilitative care services, home health and hospice care, assisted living, and urgent care companies, announced today that it has acquired Life's Doors Hospice, Life's Doors Home Health, and Life's Doors Home Care Solutions located in Boise, Idaho.

"We continue to see home health and hospice as an important service offering within the continuum of care, and our expansion in Boise fits neatly within our plan for strategic growth," said Christopher Christensen, Ensign's President and Chief Executive Officer. "We look forward," Christensen continued, "to increasing our ability to serve the healthcare needs of Idahoans through our skilled nursing, assisted living and home health and hospice operations around the State."

Life's Doors will be operated by Cornerstone Healthcare Inc., Ensign's home health and hospice operating company. In merging Life's Doors with Horizon Home Health and Hospice, which Cornerstone has operated since 2010, Ensign brings together two of the oldest, best regarded home care providers in Idaho. "Life's Doors brings to our organization a talented team of caregivers deeply committed to serving their patients," said Daniel Walker, Cornerstone's President and Chief Executive Officer, "integrating that team with our exceptional Horizon team will result in an increasing ability to offer Idahoans the highest level of home health and hospice care."

The purchase was made with cash, and brings Ensign's growing portfolio to ten home health agencies and seven hospices, across nine states. Mr. Christensen reaffirmed that Ensign is actively seeking additional opportunities to acquire both well-performing and struggling home health and hospice operations across the United States.
