OnTheSnow Names Mammoth Mountain's Parks and Pipes Best in the Country

Mammoth Lakes, Calif., April 16, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- OnTheSnow awarded Mammoth Mountain with the 2014 Visitor's Choice Award for "Best Park and Pipe" in the country. The award, announced Sunday at the Mountain Travel Symposium, recognizes Mammoth's Unbound Terrain Parks, which are routinely ranked among the best in the world.

"Mammoth is the training ground for some of the world's best snowboarders and skiers for a reason," said T.J. Dawoud, director of Mammoth's Unbound Parks. "But the fact is, we pay just as much attention to the park experience of our newest riders. Progression is a huge focus for us and I think this award speaks to that commitment."

OnTheSnow determined award winners based on comprehensive reviews submitted by visitors throughout the 2013-14 season. The OnTheSnow Visitor's Choice Awards are considered the most comprehensive user-generated ski resort awards in the industry. Last year Mammoth Mountain was named "Best Park and Pipe" in the west region.

"The 2014 Sprint U.S. Grand Prix and Olympic team naming gave us a chance to showcase the work of our Unbound team with the world," said Michelle Tomaier, director of special events at Mammoth. "You heard our Olympic athletes say it then and the ski and snowboard community is saying it now: Mammoth is home to the best parks and pipes in the country."

Mammoth's six Unbound parks are in a state of constant evolution, incorporating feedback from riders daily to push the boundaries and create new posibilities. But on a typical day riders will find multiple pipes, around 100 jibs, 50 jumps and a few Olympians.
